Redfield Estate
The Redfield Estate is a Tudor-style historic home combining Old World charm with the majesty of spacious lawns surrounded by woodlands.
We chose the Redfield Estate for our wedding because it was an intimate and charming setting. We hope that all of our guests will feel relaxed and at home at the house.
Both our wedding ceremony and the reception that immediately follows will be held at the Redfield Estate. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outside at one of the pavilions, and will be followed by Al fresco dining, and dancing under the stars.
If there is rain (that's good luck, right?), all festivities will be indoors. Time to get cozy and acquainted with your new extended family and friends!
Redfield Estate History
Built in 1929, The Redfield Estate was the home of Kennicott descendents who settled The Grove in the 1830s. Acclaimed authors Louise Redfield Peattie (American Acres) and Donald Culross Peattie (A Prairie Grove) were the first couple to live in the home. George C. Elmslie, a follower of the Louis Sullivan School of Chicago Architecture, designed the house. The home’s fabulous architectural style was inspired by the natural areas of The Grove. A stained glass circle on the large leaded glass window in the main room is placed in such a way that the moon appears encircled here on the vernal equinox in the spring and autumnal equinox in the fall.
